A story is a letter that the author writes to himself, to tell himself things that he would be unable to discover otherwise.

About This Quote

What makes stories great is that they are written by people for other people. When you tell a story to one person, in one way, it is only a story. When you tell the same story in a different way to another person, in a different place, it becomes a different story. It may be the same story, but it is told in a different way and it paints a picture of something that hasn’t been seen before.

That is what makes storytelling such an art. A story is like an experiment that you do on yourself. You experiment with one thing and get two different results; each result gives you something new to explore and grow from.

Then, once you tell someone else about your experiment, they can try it out on themselves and get their own new results.
